The Rank Railheads (RCL 40) continue to set an amazing pace atop the Master Standings, thanks to a still unbelievable 119 league points. Last week I said they were too far behind Chin Music in the Runs category to score a perfect 120, which I guess they took as a challenge. The Railheads narrowed the gap to 14, outscoring Chin Music 49 – 39. Another week like that would make things interesting.
Meanwhile, panthers_freak (We’ve Got the Runs — Baseball Reasons) gained a couple of points to pull to within 3 of top spot. He still could gain in wins (4 behind, but with 11 extra starts) and batting average (.2687, chasing .2706 and .2709). It is tough to gain in average, but not impossible. A 100-for-300 week would move panthers_freak to .2713. A repeat of the best week he has recorded (109-for-345) would put his average at .27085. Unfortunately, that was back in June, and last week his average actually dropped more than a point.
captainpyper (RCL 3) and Pliny the Elder (Myrtle’s Acres) each gained a point to remain tied in third place with 110 points. Stosh (Balls Deep — RCL 9) jumped 8 spots to 5th at 107. The Fugs (Epic Beardmen Division) and Bombo Rivera (Prague Defenestrators — Conshellation Prize) are next with 106, followed by MattTruss223 (Rube Waddell’s Shiny Objects — Magnificent Mustachioed Men), royce! (That’s Not Very Maybin — Original Recipe), and Joba’s Trampoline (RCL 41) at 105.
uziguzi (Soylent green is Albright) gained 8 points this week to move into the top 50 overall. You’re Killin’ Me Smalls (Fantasy Booze Cruise), The Bourjos Pig (Balls and Razz), and Thunder Buddies For Life (Go Big or Go Home) all added 7 points and gained over 40 positions to reach the top 100. The ECFBL continued to raise their competitive index at an amazing rate, jumping over half a point to 106.98. Ones are GOOD right? remain second best at 102.65.
Expert League: Tim Dierkes (P.F. Flyer) took over top spot with 88.5 points, 2-and-a-half up on Ryan Carey (Mastersball Carey). Rudy is another half-point back, followed by Dalton Del Don (RotoWire Del Don) at 84.5 and Scott Pianowski (Karma Police) with 80. Looks like this league won’t be decided until October. Grey held steady in 6th place with 76.5 points. The Razzball duo continued their pitching dominance, with Grey recording 15 saves and Rudy putting up a WHIP of 0.97. On the other hand, their batting averages for the week were .217 and .233.
Weekly Leaders
Standing 69 (Razz Roto 2), an abandoned team (last modified roster on May 7), hit .341 with 21 home runs and 51 RBI, 48 runs, and 8 stolen bases. And, that’s with Johnny Damon in the lineup. See, this game’s not so hard. Jimmy Rollins (9 runs/5 steals), Miguel Cabrera (.407/3 HR/7 RBI), Alfonso Soriano (.360/7 RBI), Erick Aybar (.448/2 SB), and Curtis Granderson (4 HR) led the way.

Griffin all held their opponents scoreless, while Yu Darvish, Doug Fister and Trevor Cahill each allowed just 4 baserunners in 7 innings. Darvish led the team with 9 Ks. Cole Hamels (8 K), Anibal Sanchez (7 K), and Eric Stults picked up the other starter wins. Relievers Jim Johnson and Craig Kimbrel also won games to bring Team Lee’s total to 11.

Mike Minor led the pitching staff with 2 fine starts (1 Win/11 K/0.77/0.94), while Jered Weaver (Win/9 K/0.00/0.43), A.J. Griffin (Win/6 K/0.00/0.75), Brandon Morrow (6 scoreless innings), Wei-Yin Chen (7 K/2.45/1.23), and Kris Medlen (13 K/1.29/0.86) all had excellent outings. Rafael Soriano contributed 4 saves, with Jonathan Papelbon, Joe Nathan, Carlos Marmol, and John Axford each adding 2 more.
