Which RP to pickup?

Steals/Saves Ain't Got No Face. Closers and speed talk. Which MRs are moving in? Which schmohawk speedster is getting steals at MI?

Which RP to pickup?

Postby KungFuPanda » Thu Apr 15, 2010 8:24 am

Hey guys,

I'm "lucky" to have Mike Gonzalez on the DL. The two other RP's are Bailey and Nunez. Usually they aren't bad guys for saves, aren't they? I still wasn't lucky to win the category yet. My ERA is a bit high, I have Kershaw, Carpenter, Billingsley, Peavy, Hamels, Floyd. A good pitching staff, as Grey said. ;) They are struggling, though.
So, I'm not sure if I should pick up a decent RP with low ERA and whip or take a look for more saves - or both.

These guys are free: Ryan Madson, Matt Lindstrom, Matt Caps, Octavio Dotel, Luke Gregerson, Phil Hughes (he's 5th starter of the yankees though). Also available guys like Saito, Morales, Adams...

Thanks!

I'd go for Madsen for short term. You can get some saves and dump him if/when he loses his job.

Thanks, I also thought he's one of the best choice now.

Two more questions.
Should I hold on Coghlan or Reimold? Borbon is free for example. I could need steals. Otherwise he wasn't really good yet and isn't playing today. Soriano, Gutierrez, Blanks free. Not the greatest opportunities.
Should I hold on Doumit? Soto, Ianetta, even Napoli (won't pick him up) are available. I'm thinking about drop Reimold/Coghlan for a Catcher, at least for today because Pittsburgh isn't playing.

Thanks again.

Madson SUCKS as a closer. Go with Capps.

I guess you're playing in a really shallow league. I would pick up Gutierrez (assuming it's FraGu) to replace Reimold and Borbon to replace Coghlan. I think they're both upgrades to what you can currently expect from those 2 players.

I'm someone who thinks Doumit will have a fairly nice year, and I'd drop him for Soto.

I would figure out a way to add Phil Hughes. Don't let him sit in the wire anymore.
