Bottom of the 5th, getting into trouble.

Postby Falcon » Sat Feb 26, 2011 5:31 pm

After a few mocks, I am feeling really lost at the 5th/6th pick in my draft. I am the 12th pick, so in the 5th I have pick 60 & 61

I generally have Miggy, David Wright, Phillips/Kinsler, and Justin Upton at this point. Yeah, I love the PEDS strategy, and have for years.

Anyway, I have the following options at pick 60 & 61:

Andrus
Chris Young
Yovani
Liriano
Mark Reynolds
Michael Young
Jayson Werth
Brian McCann
Carlos Marmol

1) I can get Andrus later on for sure - 8th rd.
2) If I am reaching for a pitcher, I dont think Yovani or Liriano are the ones to reach for.
3) I already have a 3B, so young is out
4)I dont want McCann, I can get 75% of his numbers in the last rd of the draft
5) Reynolds fills a need i dont have since I have Wright

Lookin for any advice here. This happens almost every single draft!

I forgot to mention, this is a keeper league.

I also have Pence in the 10th.

I don't get it, you listed all of these guys you don't want. So who do you want that is available? It's a keeper league so I have no idea who's available.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.
There's more than one player with the same last name? Then spell out who you're talking about.
Thanks!

I don't get it quite either... :?:

but I would pick up Andrus- he's going way higher than you might think and in a keeper format he's solid.

Gotcha, let me re-phrase. I need help with my draft strategy!

Assume I have picks 60 & 61, assume that I have picked Miggy(1), David Wright (2), Kinsler(3), and Justin Upton(4), and assume I have Pence locked down at pick 109.

I have two questions I am running into consistently:

1) Am I wrong in thinking that having both Chris Young and Justin Upton in my outfield is risky?
2) Should I consider skipping on David Wright at pick 13, as there are a plenty of 3B's available later on?

Thanks, I was smoking the good stuff yesterday.

I've consistently found myself lost in the 5th round, too. If Dunn's there I usually take him even if I already have a 1B. After that, I go McCann. I've never taken a C in the first 15 rounds so this is a little unsettling but I pretty much refuse to take a SP before the 6th.

Oh, ya - Bruce is another guy I target in the 5th, too.
