What is the best way to search for players?

Postby Iron Tusk » Sun Jul 17, 2011 11:59 am

When I put in a name to search (Swisher and Victorino are recent attempts) the search engine tells me:

The following words in your search query were ignored because they are too common words: swisher.
You must specify at least one word to search for. Each word must consist of at least 3 characters and must not contain more than 14 characters excluding wildcards.

Any way to search for these players?

I don't understand the question.
Grey Albright

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.
There's more than one player with the same last name? Then spell out who you're talking about.

I read about players on twitter, search for them on yahoo fantasy players and rotoworld, and sometimes use sortable stats on espn and fangraphs. my most common search is ie "Jose Reyes Rotoworld" so I can get the latest blurb about a player's status. I also use mlbtraderumors (and twitter) to follow trade gossip.

From the Razzball home page, enter Swisher in the Search box in the left side column.

Here is the search result:

Sorry - above is search for web articles.

In the Forums, from the Search tab
enter swisher* and you will get results with the keyword swisher and any wildcard character after that.
Hey Smails! A thousand bucks you miss that putt!

I do pretty much the same thing, Bourne. I recently joined Twitter and it didn't take long to realize how much info i had been missing before (sports and otherwise). If you're not on Twitter, there's probably somebody in your league that is, and there's a good chance you'll wind up getting your ass kicked by that guy.

I wish there were megathreads on this board for each player, rather than 5,000 threads on Reyes, but the half-hearted effort I made for 10 seconds didn't give me the instant results I wanted, so I stopped trying.
I like sports with balls in them.
