Well, what can I say other than I screwed the pooch. You have to choose to publish the league before the draft and I failed to do so. Instead we'll have a special feature hosted by yours truly called "Razzball Commenter's League Update!!!!!". Think Japanese gameshow with less A2M, more beer, and a slightly different perversions. I'm looking at you, O.Cab.

Other than that we had a few minor glitches, namely people not getting in until it was too late. At least thats their excuse for the crap team they drafted. The draft went surprisingly fast, clocking in at a little more than 2 and a half hours. Remarkable for a 16 team league with 25 rounds. I think my last ten person league took an hour or two longer.

I sat on my hands too long and ended up with Thome by default in the 7th round. Besides that crime against humanity I can't think of too many things to complain about on my end, just wait a while until I realize I drafted a team of Schmoes with no hawks.

My strategy was to win pitching and SB categories since the league's so deep. I figured I'd try and get value in offense later in the draft. Bad idea.

My first four picks: Santana (9th), Peavy 24, Lincecum 41, K-Rod 56.
My next four: We don't talk about such things.
My fav. picks: Mike Jacobs 137, Kuroda 248, Bourn 280, K. Escobar 329

Pitching: Really good.
Batting: Bad to mediocre.

This is my first 16 team league and I think by trying a balanced approach my team is flat on all cylinders. The last few rounds totally suck as I had to keep scouring for players. I also laughed halfway through because everyone is reading the same material here so, duh, we look for the same players.

My strategy went to shit when I realized there were 16 teams, so I winged it.
Went for offensive balance, punted saves and am leaning on Ks, especially in the RP position.

My best: None of them, everything looks pretty average.
My worst: Leaving early with autopick set to pick Dotel, Brocail, and F. Lewis with my last 3, getting home to realize my MR, B's were taken and I got Andruw fucking Jones and Vincente Padilla instead!

The long distance between picks definitely makes it hard/impossible to plan ahead, and I had a hard time predicting where players would fall.

I'm not crazy with being stuck with LaRoche as my 1b but at least he is a 2nd half player. Otherwise I think my team is decent

I completely forgot that OPS was a category, so it would have been smart to grab someone like Burrell or Soto earlier. Oh well... it'll be happy fun times from now on. (Insert Emoticon here: )

That was actually part of my approach to the draft. I originally came to Razzball to get away from the incestuous Y? "experts". A fresh approach will let you dominate a league full of people using the same information. While Grey, Rudy, and everybody else keep us informed, educated, and laughing, I felt it was important to try to use the braintrust as inspiration more than dogma. This is why people usually look at my teams and think I'm not listening to a damn thing on the site. Gotta live on the edge.

Its too early to start judging but, other than Thome, I feel pretty good about my team. I might be a little light in power but I didnt laugh as hard at my team as I did looking at some of the others. It seriously starts to get tough after round 4 or 5 to find players even approaching schmohawk status. Chad Cordero, one of the OG flatbilled platypuses, even found a roster spot!

I have a feeling the trades are going to be fast and furious for a while. I'm looking forward to (embarrassing/finishing in the middle of/being embarrassed by) the pack.

Here is a dumb question - is there a limit on the number of moves we can make? Why can I only slide a few players around the roster?

no limit on the moves. It won't let you change the roster position of players that played today. Click on Friday and you can move anybody you want. To put someone in a DL spot you need to drag them all the way to the bottom and the DL positions will open. Same thing if you want to put another person on the bench. The classic mode is a little easier to use if you arent familiar with the setup, in my opinion.
