Hi Grey,
So, NL-Only, 12 team, keeper. Its a minor league draft and any player who has been called up to the major leagues already doesn't count. I might be able to get pick #12 in a trade and was wondering who to take. I'm looking for starting pitching or outfield pop. Most of the top prospects from past years were drafted in said past years (Buster Posey, Strasburg, etc.) This is the list of the 11 who have been taken so far:
Chapman
Agent Starling (Castro)
Drew Storen
Todd Frazier
Danny Espinosa
Ike Davis
Derrick Norris
Devaris Gordon
Donovan Tate
James Darnell
I was thinking of Christian Friedrich?

Not knowing who has been drafted in the past (I am assuming Mike Stanton, Jesus Montero, Bumgarner, Vitters, Jiovanni Meir (HOU), Pedro Alvarez, Brett Lawrie, Smoak, Freddie Freeman, Carlos Santana, Ackley, Domonic Brown, Jaff Decker, etc. are all drafted).
Friedrich is a great option, but what about Casey Crosby, Jarrod Parker, Matt Moore, Kyle Drabek, or Martin Perez (TEX)? I like Friedrich a lot, but I like Crosby more. Parker is recovering from Tommy Johns surgery and you might be able to draft him cheap. Moore has a lot of upside if he can harness his control and Drabek will have plenty of opportunities to pitch in Toronto. If you want a hitter, there are tons of those out there, but I need to know a bit more about who is available.

Re: NL-Only Minor League Draft
Thanks for the advice Stephen, I love your Scouting the Unknown Article. A funny side note, I already own Jarrod Parker, I traded to get him this off-season (for the very reason you mentioned.)

For a good reference, here is FanGraphs Marc Hulet's top 100 prospects. (Friedrich is going to be good, and is closer than Crosby to the majors. Something I forgot to mention in my first reply.)

If he hasn't been taken yet, and you haven't drafted yet, Chris Carter (1B-Oak) is close to the majors and has 30-35 homer power with a .275 average potential.
