Going from a Draft to an Auction

So I'm in a 12 team keeper league. We currently use a snake draft system but we're thinking about switching to an auction. Everyone seems to be in for the auction but we're not sure how to switch our keepers to auction value from draft spots. Currently we keep players in the round they are drafted. If two players are kept in the same round then the round before is sacrificed (i.e. 2 4ths sacrifice a 4th and a 3rd) unless they are both first rounders (i.e. 2 1st rounders sacrifice 1st and 2nd rounder). Keeping the same player in repeated years you will have to sacrifice an earlier round each year (i.e. Drafted Longoria in the 14th round, kept him in the 14th, kept him again in the 13th, next year he will cost a 12th).

My plan for conversion was to value each round draft pick at a certain dollar value (i.e. first round = $35, 2nd round = $28, 3rd round = $22, etc). These values are a complete guess but I think the idea gets across. Every year a player is kept will add 15% or $1 (whichever is greater) per year kept.

Is this a reasonable solution? Please let me know any holes in this plan or if you have a better idea altogether. I'd rather not have to start from scratch if I can help it.

I like that solution. Or you agree to go with one site's auction values. For instance, everyone agrees to go with ESPN. As for inflation, I'd add $5, no matter the player.
