which of these trades is most unfair?

Postby steamer33 » Sat May 22, 2010 9:48 am

I'm in a 12 team H2H league where these 4 trades went down so far this year. One of them involved me. Some of the owners that were on the winning side of the other trades were upset with my trade. I'm looking for opinions on which of these trades are vetoable?

1. Ellsbury + Hoffman for Prado, S. Sizemore, Porcello (made at beginning of year before Hoffman sucked)

2. Braun + B. Anderson for Loney, Zobrist, C. Lewis (recent)

3. R. Zimm for Cueto + Wagner (recent)

4. Utley + Bailey for Kershaw + Weeks (recent)

I made #4 & received the Utley side. I realize I won the trade, but what pisses me off is these guys think the other trades are fair & mine is vetoable. I don't understand the Zimm one. (Cueto had just been picked up on WW) I'd appreciate some opinions - maybe I am wrong.

Honestly number 4 sounds like the least even one to me, too, in terms of player ranking, draft value (Utley going in round one, whereas Kershaw usually went in round 7 or later in most formats), position scarcity, etc. but you're trading a good pitcher for a good hitter, so it's not entirely horrible. Given the other trades you listed, I don't think they have much right to complain, though.

I think the Utley for Kershaw trade is the most fair.

Ellsbury for Prado is ridiculous. Zimm for Cueto, equally as much.

I'm not sure why anyone would move Braun and not get at least a stud pitcher in return. Colby Lewis isn't nearly enough. Loney and Zobrist? Terrible.

I don't see how 2 and 4 are really any different. They're both an early-to-mid first rounder and a solid pitcher for a strikeout pitcher and offensive players. Zobrist + Loney are much better than Weeks, which evens out Kershaw being better than Lewis and Anderson having been on the DL as opposed to Bailey being healthy (but a healthy closer..).

And there are a lot of factors we know nothing about, like what each team needed, what positions were deep/shallow, etc.

Either way, I don't see how the managers involved with those other trades could justify wanting to veto the 4th one. Vetos should be used sparingly to prevent cheating, NOT manage other people's teams for them.

IMO, 1 is tied with 4 for the most unfair.

1 - Just ridiculous, obvious sell high on Prado. Kicked him you know where in the end.

2 - Assuming team giving Braun has a good Sp staff, otherwise why would you want Lewis. Anderson for Lewis then Loney and Big Z for Braun. Seen worse but not terrible.

3 - Team giving Zimm must already have a lot of bats and no pitching whatsoever to consider this one.

4 - Nice one mate, hope it doesn't get vetoed on you!
