Peavy Update

Postby linkinpaak » Thu Jul 16, 2009 9:16 am

This is the last time I draft this guy... the last time I drafted him was in 2006 when he had his statistical aberration awful season with a 4.09 ERA and only won 11 games.

From Yahoo/Rotowire:
Padres general manager Kevin Towers said that it is "50-50" that Peavy (ankle) will pitch again this season, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. "We'll know more when he comes out of the cast. I can't speak for Jake, but I'd much rather have him ready for 2010 than risking more serious injury by coming back too early this year," Towers said.

Recommendation: Peavy should be out of his cast within the next few days, but with the Padres in no position to make a playoff run, they won't feel any need to rush their ace back. Another consideration for the Padres is that if Peavy does come back too early and re-injures himself, he loses nearly all of his value on the trade market. You won't want to cut Peavy loose yet, but begin to think about having other options available going forward.

Peavy seems more hopeful, now that the boot is off and his ankle is healthy... ... sp&c_id=sd

I almost dropped him for Troncoso a few hours ago. Glad I did not, for now.
