Five Keepers

Who to start, who to bench. Grab that WW guy? Low priced rookie or high priced stud?

Five Keepers

Postby Bake McBride » Wed Sep 23, 2009 8:16 am

Standard Yahoo league, 8 teams.

I can keep 5 total players... either 3 batters and 2 pitchers or 3 pitchers and 2 batters.

Here's my line-up:

Miguel Montero
Ryan Howard
Chone Figgins
Aramis Ramírez
Alexei Ramírez
Carl Crawford
Matt Kemp
Nelson Cruz
Mark Reynolds

Josh Beckett
Chad Billingsley
Homer Bailey
Clayton Kershaw
Joe Blanton
Ryan Rowland-Smith
Jair Jurrjens
Josh Johnson
Tim Lincecum
Adam Wainwright
Tommy Hanson
Ricky Nolasco
Joe Nathan
Jonathan Papelbon
Carlos Mármol
Brad Lidge

I have been extremely lucky this year. I drafted well, avoided injuries, and got some good players from waivers (including Alexei, Reynolds, Hanson, and Marmol). I won the regular season championship and am currently in the league's post-season championship game.

Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated!!

I'd always keep more hitters than pitchers, unless your hitters were just putrid (and they're not)...

Crawford, Reynolds, & Howard as your hitters... Matt Kemp & Nelson Cruz could easily fight for one of those spots, as well.

I think I'd go Lincecum & Johnson as your pitchers.

Let's all vote and then listen to the Man.

Kemp, Howard, Reynolds, Lincecum, Wainwright (Reynolds for Crawford because he is a position player on a potentially short list of 3B).

Thanks for the input, guys. I have in mind who I would like to keep but don't want to say just yet.

You ever watch "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire," and the person says, "gee, i think the answer is B, but i want to ask the audience." Then Meredith Viera admonishes the person for giving their answer, saying they may have influenced the audience's thinking.

Anyway, sorry for going off on the weird random tangent, but I don't want to give you my thoughts on this for fear that I might influence your answers.

(By the way.... I wanted to say I won my league's championship last night in spite of Kemp's slump and Crawford and Figgins combining for ONE stolen base in 2 weeks!)

Ended up keeping Howard, Kemp and Crawford and also Lincecum and Waiwright. First round of the draft got Josh Johnson back so I am pleased with my team.
