League info:
12-team H2H, 7x7. We keep (K) six players at a cost of 2 rounds based on the previous season's draft results.
Offense: C - Perez (K); 1B - Ortiz; 2B - Phillips; 3B - Trumbo; SS - Segura; LF - CarGo; CF - Ellsbury; RF - J. Upton; UTIL - Choo; UTIL -Aoki (K); BENCH: Nava, Rendon, Wil Myers (NA). DL: Middlebrooks (K).
Pitching: SP - Scherzer(K), Ryu, T. Hudson, Medlen (K), Fister, Bumgarner (K), Cingrani; RP - Janssen, Frieri, Rosenthal, C. Allen, C. Capps. DL: Fujikawa
I'm currently in second place.
Here's my situation: I have Will Middlebrooks tagged as a keeper (He cost me a 20th round pick this season and will cost me an 18th rounder next season). I have yet to activate him from the DL because I've picked up Anthony Rendon who is now eligible at 2B/3B to back up Mark Trumbo who I have as my every day 3B.
The question is: Rendon or Middlebrooks ROS? I know Middlebrooks has the potential to mash it, but frankly, he's looked rather lost at the plate so far. Rendon has been solid since his most recent call up and is eligible at two positions.
If I drop Middlebrooks and someone else picks him up, they will be able to keep him in the 18th round next season. I guess he is not a bad investment at that cost, but he's certainly under-performing at this point.
I already have Ellsbury, Nava, and Papi on my team and all are producing. I'm thinking Middlebrooks is the weak link.
Should I drop him or is he worth hanging on to?

Re: Drop Middlebrooks?
I have never been sold on Middlebrooks. I just don't see him being anything more than a mid-tier 3B player. So I would be fine dropping him. Maybe I am wrong and he breaks out but I just don't see enough to burn a roster spot and a keeper spot on him.

Thanks Mauddib.
I had some high hopes, based on last season. This year, aside from one game when he hit three HRs, he's been fairly useless. I can deal with strikeouts, but you also have to actually get hits when you make contact - something he's just not doing consistently.
I'll likely be sticking with Rendon. Besides, it's never a good idea to load up with too many guys from the same team...

I'm dropping him today (I've had him since he was called up). Maybe he turns it around, but he simply isn't a very good hitter right now.
And he won't have long to figure it out. Bogaerts should be pushing him soon, and Cecchini's tearing up the Carolina League and will be on the way after Bogaerts.
