Kemp, Choo or Jose B?

Who to start, who to bench. Grab that WW guy? Low priced rookie or high priced stud?

Kemp, Choo or Jose B?

Postby rightwingjedi » Sun Mar 27, 2011 3:29 am

12 man 5x5 redraft

Assuming I land who I want at picks 10 & 15, I have some options at pick 34.

Matt Kemp has been going from 28-39 in all my mocks, and Jose Reyes and Choo are around that range as well. I see Choo flat out exploding this year and moving into top 10-15 range for next year but I have a man crush on Reyes this year and SS is needless to say shallow, IMO

My options at 34...

Matt Kemp
Shin Soo Choo
Jose Reyes
Nelson Cruz
Andrew McCutchen

I shy from injury risks so that would weed out Reyes and Cruz in spite of their upside.

Kemp has 30-30 potential, but last year was pretty bad for him in terms of batting average and SB% success rate. They could put the brakes on him, and another .250-ish season really hurts his value.

Choo is money in the bank to me, and poses the least amount of risk, but I don't think he has 30-30 potential. I think 23/23 is the ceiling, with a swank .300 avg.

McCutchen is a good player too, but I tend to like guys who can hit 20+ at this stage of a draft.

I guess it depends on whether or not you are a gambler. If so, take Kemp. If not, take Choo.

I would be looking at Choo over Kemp if youre banking on an OF. Mainly because I think the safe money is on Kemp not being there at your pick.

Choo is the "Made in Korea" model of consistancy, and his name isnt sexy enough to fly off the boards early.
10 Team Head to Head, .5 PPR.
Keep up to two each year for 3 years for a draft pick two rounds higher than last year. Keeper round in ().

Thx

My buddies say I'm nuts for predicting a 30/30 from Choo.

After reading his stressed he has been for three years and now he is at peace. God knows what he will do.

Grey has Choo predicted to finish 20/20 this year with a .300 average. That's nice, but I'm not sure that's #1.

I'd definitely take Kemp if he's still there. He struggled last year and still hit 28 homers, which would be a career year for Choo. I think Kemp is about to bust out the whooping stick this year.

Yeah, I agree. I'd take Kemp. I think he's gonna bounce back in a big way...
