Smurf keepers

My team stinks this year but league rules say I must keep a minimum of 5. My no brainers are Goldy and Stanton. 6x6 league (standard 5x5 plus OBP and HLD)

Which 3 would you pick out of this crop?

Brandon Phillips
Headley
BJ Upton
Rendon
Shark
Perkins
Romo
Sal Perez

Thanks

Re: How Sad is This Team?

Ironically, my pitching may end up stronger than my pitching. I am pretty sure Samardzija and Lester will be pretty good. I added Teheran late. Cahill's only 25 and his K numbers this spring were great. Ryu settled down after a rough start and probably should be an ok #5 guy at least. My offense wit...

How Sad is This Team?

Last year, I was very excited heading into the season cuz I had a crop of talented young players but they mostly stunk (Jennings, Lawrie, Hosmer) but I had a strong draft and finished 2nd. This year, I am feeling kinda crappy cuz I am not excited about my keepers and I am having a weak draft so far ...

Re: Axford vs. Hanrahan

I have no advanced statistical analysis or anything to back up what I am saying other than gut. The last couple of yrs BOS has been near the bottom of the league in saves. Now I realize a big part of that is the BOS bullpen's been ugly, but part of that has also been them losing. All I know is that ...

Axford vs. Hanrahan

It seems most perts are loving Hanrahan more than Axford this year. (And I give you, Grey, a lot of cred for ranking Axford above Hanrahan) I see warnings on Axford's control, but no one seems to mention that Hanrahan's walk rate was worse. H walked 5.43/9 IP while Ax walked 5.1/9 IP. Ax's K rate is...

Re: Baby Ryu

People seems to think he's a #3 at best and could be worse than that cuz he has one definitely above average pitch, the changeup. But if he's good at locating his pitches he should be fine. Glavine had a borderline HoF career with just a good changeup. Dunno if I would rank him in the top 120 though...

Baby Ryu

Grey, you like Ryu a lot better than most other rankers out there. He's your (big) baby this year. That's for sure.

Re: 2013 Overhyped

I for one picked Salvador Perez arguably too early around pick 125, I'd have to wait 16 picks before I got to pick again. Alex Gordon got taken right before my pick so I was left with the likes of Morrow (Whom I very nearly took before switching to Perez) and Jim Johnson. With most catchers still le...

Re: Keeper Smurfs

Definitely the closest race and most exciting finish I've been involved in.

If the LAD didn't score 3 in the bottom of the 8th and League had gotten a save, I would have tied too. Just too many things went wrong.

Definitely a race I won't ever forget.
