Opening Day
Remember that the point of games is to learn. That's why they are most closely associated with kids, but it's never too late. Fantasy baseball taught this English Major to run some spreadsheet shit and download CSV from Fangraphs. Dodger broadcasts on get away day late in the summer. Still eatin' eg...

My ultimate league
Thinking about just exactly the format I'd want to play. I love RCL. My favorite format but it's not quite perfect...yet. What I would retain from RCL: Roster settings Categories 180 GS limit Daily changes What I would add: Daily FAAB Mid Season Keepers. At the All Star break I'd have a 6 keeper hol...

Re: Brandon Moss versus The Shift
could be that he just wants to plant the seed that he'll do it. Could be that he wants to practice it at game speed. Hard to say. It's so crazy the way the game has evolved with "big data".

Brandon Moss versus The Shift
Brandon Moss has been bunting into the shift this spring. Quite successfully so far. The shift is a fascinating thing. In an age when you seem to be able to get information about every statistical nook and cranny you can dream up by just going to fangraphs or doing a bit more googling, I've found it...

Re: The Syndicate
I live in Oakland in Redwood Heights just off the 13. The NFBC has online contests for as little as $125. Go to their site.

Re: SP streaming and auction strategy--where's Simply Fred?
I mostly agree with your analysis of my analysis. The lower win rate for streamers is pretty close. On the one side you can start guys against lower tier teams. On the other hand, they are worse pitchers and they generally do not go as deep in the game. Because of the depth of you league I'm downgra...

Re: Risk Management
Hey Fred, no offense, but off your list of guys to avoid in 2013 Byrd, Longoria, Ellsbury, Werth, Utley, Ortiz, Cuddyer and Napoli were some of the best values in FBB last year.

Re: SP streaming and auction strategy--where's Simply Fred?
I'm assuming you can start 9 pitchers and it's a daily league. If you run an average of 8 relievers over the course of the year we'll ball park that at 500 innings, meaning you'll need another 1200 innings. 7 rostered starters who give you 170 innings each gets you right there. Now let's look at the...

Re: The Syndicate
Yeah...76.8 percent payback. You do better with a slot machine. You get better odds in Vegas. So you have to go in believing that this model gives you a chance to beat those odds, which is very possible because unlike Vegas, those odds are not mathematical reliabilities and you can do things to infl...
