Mock drafting - beats doing the dishes

Postby Steve » Thu Feb 19, 2009 2:16 am

Did get the dishes done too, though. 10-team, standard ESPN roster.

Not crazy about Johnson and Cantu and went a bit pitching-crazy in rounds 8-11...

(23) Carlos Beltran CF
(38) Adrian Gonzalez 1B
(43) Jake Peavy SP
(58) Carlos Quentin LF
(63) Joey Votto 1B (CI)
(78) Shane Victorino CF
(83) Chad Billingsley SP
(98) Jonathan Broxton RP
(103) Yovani Gallardo SP
(118) Adam Wainwright SP
(123) Jorge Cantu 3B
(138) Pat Burrell LF
(143) Kelly Johnson 2B
(158) Chris Iannetta C
(163) Heath Bell RP
(178) Rickie Weeks 2B (MI)
(183) Chris Young SP
(198) Chad Qualls RP
(203) Fred Lewis LF (Util)

I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I'm not sure Victorino was needed for this team. Anyway, I like this team a lot. Even if you were to have problems with a team like this, you have a lot of tradeable parts. Nicely done, Steve.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.
There's more than one player with the same last name? Then spell out who you're talking about.
Thanks!

I sort of forgot about him, but then when I saw him at 78, I kind of had to take him.

You forgot Victorino? When you cut me, do I not bleed?

Well, when you have the Carlos trifecta in the OF, you kind of start looking at other positions, you know?

BTW, I could have taken Cano or Atkins in the 9th instead of Bills. Better or worse?

Atkins in that round and then I bet you could've got Billingsley then Broxton in the next rounds. Either way, it's still a strong team.

How about this one? 10-team, ESPN. Took Kinsler in the 3rd when I normally look at an OF, just to see what would happen. Lots of autopicks so a bit distorted, but still. Wainwright kinda early, but not many (ahem) No.2s left...

(1) Alex Rodriguez 3B
(20) Prince Fielder 1B
(21) Ian Kinsler 2B
(40) Carlos Quentin LF
(41) Alex Rios RF
(60) Shane Victorino CF
(61) Joey Votto 1B
(80) Chad Billingsley SP
(81) Jermaine Dye RF
(100) Stephen Drew SS
(101) Adam Wainwright SP
(120) Bobby Jenks RP
(121) Matt Cain SP
(140) J.J. Hardy SS
(141) Pat Burrell LF
(160) Chris Iannetta C
(161) Cameron Maybin CF
(180) George Sherrill RP
(181) Chris Young SP
(200) Jered Weaver SP
(201) Brandon Lyon RP
(220) Mike Gonzalez RP
(221) Johnny Cueto SP
(240) Mike Jacobs 1B
(241) Chris Perez RP

Solid team... I think you would struggle on average if this were an actual team, but average can be pretty fluky, so I wouldn't fault you too much there. Also, I love Young, Cain, Bills, Wainwright and Cueto, but you're putting a lot of weight on having them all together. Remember if you had them all last year, you would've been miserable. Granted, it's a new year, but, ya know, Cust kayin'.

Some more reliable production needed, yes? Any suggestions?
