I was pissed at myself for starting him in 2 of my leagues because I had a bad feeling about the Angels for some reason. I ended up leaving him in because of his complete game gem against them a month or so ago. As the game progressed I was pissed. As he continued to give up runs I was yelling at my TV for Madden to pull him and go to the bullpen.

But then the K's started to pile up and he stopped giving up runs. Slowly but surely his ERA started to creep down from the exosphere to the stratosphere. One of the leagues scores CG so the loss and the CG cancel each other out.

In conclusion (or if you skipped the above): mixed feelings. Before I saw the final line I was mumbling under my breath about what to do with James. He's been inconsistent this season. Great outings followed by rough starts. So goes baseball I guess.

I'm not worried about Shields in the slightest. All pitchers have rough outings from time to time for random reasons. Generally, trying to figure out a pitcher's psyche can make your head hurt, but a couple things to consider (and to be taken w/ a chunk of salt):

- last outing was, ummm, abbreviated
- facing suspension
- pitching close to home (friends and family were there)
- wanted to impress/make up for last time and next missed start

Ya, Shields is terrible. You should drop him. He will hurt your team the rest of the season if you keep him.

The irony is thats how I got him in the first place. The guy that drafted him dropped him, his first two games with my team were the back to back complete games.

Im not going to drop him, I'm thin at pitcher already. I just always have doubts about throwing him out there. Guess I won't have to worry about that for a while.

Close. Ten team 10x10 mixed. Fortunately with the CG stat. 3 on the season for Shields is 3 more than most pitchers.

See now I looked a it differently because I had Shields throwing and Vlad hitting so things kind of offset for me. Because of his innings and strikeouts I still did alright. The hard part was going up against McGowan that night while he went a CG, Ryan sat the bench, and then came in the next day to puke all over the mound and get thrown out of the game.
