saves and holds advice/strategy

Steals/Saves Ain't Got No Face. Closers and speed talk. Which MRs are moving in? Which schmohawk speedster is getting steals at MI?

saves and holds advice/strategy

Postby Beardawg » Fri May 29, 2015 9:44 am

11 team league, I have 8 points in saves and 6.5 in holds.

However, there's a big gap between me and the next person/pack ahead of me in each category. So, which do I go for more?

If I close a gap of 15 saves, I'd gain 2 points. If I close 15 holds, I gain 3.5 points. So, should I be selling closers for setup guys? Are those gaps so big that I should forget about it and just keep doing what I'm doing?

Here's who I'm rostering:

Saves
Holland (soon to be a holds guy?)
Doolittle
Tolleson
H. Rondon
Boxberger (soon to be a holds guy?)

Holds
Watson
Seigrist
Scribner
Osuna (soon to be a saves guy?)
Geltz
B. Rondon (DL, soon to be setup guy)

So you can see my dilema. I'd rather be gaining on holds, but I've got 5 closers. Yet 2 of them are unstable, so if I sell off I could end up *losing* points in saves.

Maybe just try to trade Holland? Or hold tight until Boxberger starts picking up holds?

The biggest issue is roster spots: I can start 9 P, and with generally one SP on the mound, I run out 8 RP: should I just as a rule split those 4/4 between saves and holds guys, even if that means benching one of my closers?

Sorry for the complicated post. Anybody's advice appreciated.

Thanks!

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.
There's more than one player with the same last name? Then spell out who you're talking about.
Thanks!
