Superstar my ass. This guy is so tiring to own it's ridiculous. I'd trade him off if I thought I could get something for him.
Someone else in the trade section yesterday was telling another poster to go for Upton because he could put up 10 HR's and 10 SB's in one month. I laugh at that. I laugh out loud. It's BS. I'm done with Upton after this year. Wish I hadn't listened to the guy who told me to keep him. Lately he's just been sitting on my bench. Awesome keeper! Superstar for sure! Stupid.
End rant.

So it takes his owner stating that he sucks to light a fire? I believe about as much as Kendrick does in Upton right now.He will get hot. Starting tonight. Believe.

Re: Justin Upton
not at all. he is just too good to stay down for so long. Have some patience. He has the perfect matchup at home vs a lefty tonight.

Re: Justin Upton
OK he is out of the lineup again. Now I have lost my fucking patience. Suck
Re: Justin Upton
You guys are funny. He's had some nagging injuries with his hands/wrists. His numbers are down through 2 months, but there's no reason to think that with a little time to clear his head and relieve the daily pounding his hands have been taking he won't get healthier and find his rhythm as the summer heats up.
As far as 10 HR and 10 SB, that's pretty ambitious. But if he averaged 7 and 4 per month through the rest of the season, he'd hit about 26 more HR and 14 more SB. He's still 24 years old. If there's any player you'd regret getting rid of too early, it'd be a 24 year old with 2 seasons already in the books with 25+ HR and 20+ SB, coming off some minor (but nagging) injuries early in the year, as the summer heats up (and he plays in a great home park where the ball carries). Quite frankly, if no one in your league is offering you anyone for Upton, you're playing with a bunch of idiots.

Re: Justin Upton
Eh, I think some of the concerns are legitimate. I had Upton in a ton of leagues in 2010 after his monster 2009 campaign and all year long I kept holding out for that hot streak, for him to stop playing mediocre baseball, and at the end of the year he hit .273 with 17 Hrs and 18 SBs.
For him to have had the two great seasons that he's had at such an extremely young age is remarkable, but because he is young, he's more prone to extended slumps because younger players have less experience with falling into and getting out of slumps. Throw in the nagging injuries and you have a potentially bad situation. The dude is an amazing talent and he's going to have plenty of 30 HR seasons in the future, but young players are often unreliable and streaky.
If you look at his stats, he is hitting a lot more line drives than usual, but at the expense of fly balls, Which are 12% lower than last year's number and at a career low. I'm a little concerned by the lack of fly balls because less fly balls almost always means less home runs. More line drives usually correlate with a higher batting average, but that hasn't been the case yet.
I wouldn't sell Upton low, but if someone offered me a really good player for him, I'd probably take it. At the same time, I'd definitely be buying on Upton, but not if the price got steep. He's just not worth a first round talent in redraft leagues right now. Not when Michael Bourn has as many homers as he does! I think he is going to get things together before too long, as he's too talented not to, but you never know.
