I've never owned him before. Do you think I realistically sit him for an extended period of time until he gets his shizz together?
Luckily i drafted Miggy for 1st and Tiex for UTL so I won't have a gaping hole at 1B if I sit him.
My bench is: Encarnacion, Bourjos, Torres, Sean-Rod. Encarnacion has been declared the opening day 3B. Is he worth plugging in for april Tiex?

Re: The Tiexeira Conundrum
I don't understand...you have to set your lineup monthly? If it's a daily league, I'd play matchups.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.

Re: The Tiexeira Conundrum
I had tex last year and this year so I feel your potential pain. Last year I never sat him and it hurt. Luckily he will payoff in the long run. If you take away the name and look purely at numbers I would say sit him down, especially considering you have Miggy. Maybe play Tex week 1 and see what happens and if he doesn't do anything go with Edwin E

Re: The Tiexeira Conundrum
I don't get it. Gets his shizz together? This spring he's got 10 strikeouts to 8 walks and an OPS of .978.
I wouldn't sit him until he gives you a reason to. Last year was last year.
Maybe he struggles early again. Maybe he blows up. Take the information as it comes. As of today, he's a perrenial 30 HR, 100 RBI guy batting cleanup for the Yankees.
You didn't draft him thinking he'd suck, did you?

Re: The Tiexeira Conundrum
Play Tex. Yeah, I know he sucks in April historically. Then he puts up a solid spring training like he did this year and last and gives you some hope inspiring quotes like "I'm really focused this season on getting off to a hot start." That's kind of like when your girlfriend gets drunk and tells you she's "open to a threesome." Exciting news, but not even a remote guarantee.
All that said, look at who you have to start in his place. Not that I don't like Bourjos, or Rodriguez, but you have no guarantee that they'll be able to perform at the level they're capable of at all. You do, however, know that Tex is an elite hitter and will hit.
Start him with confidence my friend.
P.S. the idea of starting Edwin or Torres over Tex made me vomit in my lap. You owe me a new pair of sweatpants.

Re: The Tiexeira Conundrum
if you look at te(i)x's april numbers a little closer you can see that he has not had horrible aprils every year.
with a little cherry picking of the stats you can see that he has potential to have a productive april.
here are his most productive april lines
April 2008: 16R 4HR 17RBI .290AVG
April 2006: 19R 3HR 13RBI .293AVG
April 2005: 15R 6HR 14RBI .263AVG
So three aprils of his total eight seasons were productive.
It seems to be the exception, but he is definitely able to have a productive april.
I know the league where i have him, i'll be playing him everyday. It's worth the risk especially in a H2H league. In a roto league i might have a different opinion.
