How to take advantage of certain draft rankings?

While compiling my 2010 rankings using various sources, I have found that CBS has pitchers ranked alot higher than my rankings and most reputable rankings.

On the other hand, there are alot of undervalued hitters with CBS.

What should I do? It seems that using CBS, I always get boned on SP becasue of them having SP, ranked 20+ spots higher than they should, hence, SP get taken earlier than than should and this forces my hand.

They do have a few undervalued SP but most are higher than I would like.

I'd ignore their rankings and draft my team.

I'm going to disagree with Grey here.

I think what you do is look at the ADP of the site you're drafting from. Alot of guys will simply look at the names as they come up on the pre-set draft lists from each site (ESPN/Yahoo/Sportsline). If you study the ADP of that site and then compare vs. you're own rankings you'll find value and see how long you may be able to wait and get value or see who is overrated and avoid.

Make sense?

It is a real problem with most SP. Of Grey's top 50 SP, I can get a couple good ones but all the rest will be taken long before I would consider due to the rank.

I think the reason they rank SP so high is because they have artificially increased the value of the position (at least in the points based system that they use). By CBS's scoring values, in 2009 there were 7 starting pitchers that had over 600 points, while there were only 5 position players to accumulate over 600 points. This increases the value of the position as a whole, but hasn't really changed my strategy due to the inherent risk in taking starters early. There's always value later in the drafts in SP, its just a matter of finding it. Guys like Greinke, Vazquez, Carpender, Verlander were high scorers in CBS last year and mostly could be had relatively later in drafts last year.
