Need Draft Advice

Postby Jon » Tue Aug 24, 2010 12:47 pm

This my second year in a 10 team, H2H league with some crazy, crazy scoring. Here are the main scoring settings:

Passing: 5 yards per point; 3 points for completions and -2 points for incomplete passes; -2 points for INTs
Rushing: 1 yard per point
Receiving: 1 yard per point
2 PPR
8 points for all touchdowns

Not only is the scoring crazy but our rosters are nuts too:

QB, WR, WR, RB, RB, TE, QB/WR/RB/TE, QB/WR/RB/TE, QB/WR/RB/TE, K, DEF and 12 bench spots.

I led the league in points scored but I was the unluckiest SOB you have ever seen in my matchups. It is not uncommon for a team to score 1000 points in a weekly matchup and I lost several of them by fewer than 10 points last year.

I have to go QB heavy, right? I can potentially start 4 QBs and they tend to be the most consistent and predictable. I am drafting from the #8 slot and so if I can somehow grab two of Rodgers, Brees, Manning or Brady then I probably will. I'd appreciate any feedback.

Wow, that is some crazy shiz there. You better have 2 QB's with you first 4 picks.

I know, the league is a ton of fun though. With the number of bench spots it plays as a deep league and I do like that this is not a touchdown league but a yardage league (on steroids).

Yeah, you have to go QB heavy. Cutler, Henne, and Stafford are players I would target after you get your top tier guy.
Johnny Ringo: All right, 'lunger'. Let's do it.
Doc Holliday: Say when.

Doc Holliday: I'm your huckleberry...

I would quit that league and start one withouth the 4 QB option. That is ridiculous and sounds like a pretty bad time.

I've already said that I enjoy the league. In fact, I quit all of my other leagues save this one. I like the emphasis on QBs and yardage (as opposed to TDs).

As a follow up to my original post, here is my roster after the draft:

The Time Vampires
QB Drew Brees
WR Greg Jennings
WR Dez Bryant (or Berrian)
RB Cedric Benson
RB Arian Foster
TE Chris Cooley
FLEX 1 - Tom Brady
FLEX 2 - Joe Flacco
FLEX 3 - Clinton Portis (Roethlisberger at some point)
DE - Arizona

Bench players

Carnell Williams
Darren McFadden
Bernard Berrian
Matt Hasselbeck
Steve Slaton
Derek Anderson
Bernard Scott
Rashad Jennings
Golden Tate
Brandon Jackson
Justin Gage
Legedu Naanee
Jeremy Shockey

My WR#2 is going to be a mess all year and my RBs are ... serviceable. However, I will be starting 4 really good QBs when Big Ben comes back. Yeah this league is crazy.
