Point Shares Auction Values

Hi Grey or Rudy or whoever knows,

I was reading the explanation of point shares today and I was wondering how you guys come up with the auction values listed on your point shares spreadsheet. Is a calculation done by Rudy or does CHONE project auction values or do you guys just make a value up? If it's done by you guys I'd be curious to hear how you did it. Alternatively, if it's done by CHONE, do they explain anywhere how they get from projections to auction values? More just curiosity than anything else as I have never done an auction in my life and I'm interested in seeing how people prep for them.

I just use CHONE for projection rates (e.g., HR per Plate Appearance) and then adjust that based on Baseball prospectus estimated playing time (AB, IP)

The auction value is derived from a formula based off the Point Share calculation. The calculation just aims to have about the last player drafted worth $1 and the top player worth about $40. The basics on the Point Share methodolgy are here: ... -team-mlb/
