Get the whole album.
Yeah - that's what I did. Some good sh** right there.

Never get tired of that Brothers Johnson hook!

I grew up in the disco era - what can I say?

On of my favorite albums by a group you probably never heard of:

Satellite Rides
Wow, Grey. That's a pretty tight recommendation. Never heard this group (Old 97's) though I think I've heard the name. Checking some of their other stuff on YouTube to get an idea of their general body of work, although that particular song "Satellite Rides the Star" is golden and is a definite buy.

How does one go from "Humpty Hump" and "Fear of a Black Planet" (which was, and still is, an EXCELLENT album, btw. I literally LOL'd when you described how you became an angry, black man after listening to it. Me too! Think about all the good that album did for race relations (b/c it opened a window on the black perspective that was otherwise closed, or at least distant, to your average, white suburban)), to music like this? (don't answer that, cause I already know the answer... it's called "evolution"!).

Still, would the 16-year-old you have beaten up the 30-year-old you for listening to "ghey" music? ;)

Since one good recommendation deserves another, if u don't know him yet, check out Justin Townes Earle. He's my last major musical find (although Old 97's may soon fill that spot!). Thanks!

Yeah, my 16-year-old self would totally kick my ass. Cool, will check out Earle.
