The Dreaded "P" Slot

Who to start, who to bench. Grab that WW guy? Low priced rookie or high priced stud?

The Dreaded "P" Slot

Postby bobtpooner » Wed Mar 24, 2010 5:27 pm

Sounds dirty doesn't it? So my leagues all drafted and all that good stuff, and I wondering about how best to use the generic "P" slot. It's a 6x6 league with losses being the extra stat on the pitchers side. 4 SP, 2 RP, 1 P, 2 Bench (which I only use on pitching). My starters are Felix, Ubaldo, Hamels, Slowey, Liriano, Cueto, and Carlos Zambrano. My closers are Qualls and Frank Francisco. Now, do I stay put with what I got, or do I drop Cueto (or Zambrano) and pick up another closer off the FA list (Capps is on there, as is Madson, and whoever will close for Toronto and Minnesota, right now I'm leaning Capps)? Is it strategically wise to have three closers and give yourself the edge in saves, or keep a full stock of starters and rack up the wins and K's? I wanna pull the trigger and get Capps, but don't really know if this is the right move. 3 other teams (10 team league) are using the 3 closer strategy at the moment.

Thanks for the help!

Be good to have three closers, but unless you have bench hitters you're not telling about, I don't see anyone to drop.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.
There's more than one player with the same last name? Then spell out who you're talking about.
Thanks!
