Grey, how about this draft strategy?

Who to start, who to bench. Grab that WW guy? Low priced rookie or high priced stud?

Grey, how about this draft strategy?

Postby Buddah Lovaz » Mon Mar 24, 2014 5:18 am

I decided to play in a Yahoo Pro-$250 H2H league. Standard Y! everything. I draft Tuesday. Here's my plan.

1st) Must get a 1B. Miggy, Goldy, Crash, Prince. Must have 1.
2nd) 3B. Longo, Wright. or Pujols if both are gone and I got Miggy.
3rd) OF. Stanton. Puig. Bruce. Upton. Must have 1.
4th) SP. Sale/Bum if early. Greinke/Price if late.
5th) OF Will Myers. I don't have a backup plan yet.
6th) SP Tanaka/Gio/Anibal
7th) SP Zimmerman/Cobb
8th) SP Matt Moore/Teheren
9th) SS EverthCab
10th) 2B Gyorko
11th) SP Gray
12th) ??? (Dom Brown/Cruz/Leonys or Abreu/Adams/Rosario)
13th) CP
14th) Archer
15th) CP
16th) Middle infield. Brad Miller/Bogaerts
17th) OF Moss/Yelich/DeAza

So Far...
C
1B Miggy/Goldy/Davis/Prince/Pujols
2B Gyorko
SS EverthCab
3B Longo/Wright/Miggy
OF Stanton/Puig/Bruce/Upton
OF Myers
OF Moss/Yelich/DeAza
UT 12th pick (Dom Brown, Cruz, Leonys, or Abreu, Adams, Rosario if they fall)
UT
BN BMiller/Bogaerts.

SP1 Sale/Bum or Greinke/Price
SP2 Tanaka/Gio/Anibal
SP3 Zimmerman/Cobb
SP4 Moore
SP5 Gray
SP6 Archer
CP1 Pick 133-144
CP2 Pick 169-180

Thoughts? Ideas? Anyone I'm leaving out that I shouldn't be? Basically it's through the top 200 picks so far. Not real sure but I think my 12th pick needs to be a hitter. I punt catcher. I don't care about SBs early. 6 picks left and I plan on getting another Util, a catcher, and 4 more SPs. Or maybe 3 SPs and a CP if one falls far enough. As you can see when I make a draft plan it's pretty effin specific. I actually have it separated into 3rds in my notes though. Early/Med/Late 1st round pick.

C Montero

SS B-Rad Miller

If you can execute it, it sounds like it should work

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.
There's more than one player with the same last name? Then spell out who you're talking about.
Thanks!

So... 1st 4 rounds as planned...

Prince, Longo, Bruce, Greinke.

5th Pujols falls so I can't pass him up I gotta sacrifice Myers.
6th Myers falls so I can't pass him up. I know it's going to cost me a SP. Fine.
7th Tanaka. 8th Moore. Yeah I know how you feel about Matt Moore.
9th EverthCab was takin way too early and only Starlin remains. Ugh. Pass. I took Gyorko.

Need Pitching...
10. Ryu. 11. Gray. 12. Soria. 13. Nate Jones 15. Archer

Better get these guys now.
16. BRad Miller! Thrilled! 17. Leonys Martin.

More upside pitching!!!
Ventura, Hutchison, Martin Perez, Quintana, Erasmo.

Finish off my batters... Revere, and D'Arnaud but I'm probably going to take you up on Miguel Montero in a week.

So...
C D'ARnaud
1B Prince
2B Gyorko
3B Longo
SS B-Rad Miller
OF Bruce
OF Myers
OF Leonys
UT Pujols
UT Revere

SP Greinke, Tanaka, Moore, Ryu, Gray, Archer, Ventura, Hutchison, Perez, Quintana, Erasmo
CP Soria, Jones

I looked through your rankings and who's left is... Porcello. Wily Peralta, Moustakas, Asche. Dee Gordon.

I know I don't need 11 SP. I figure 3 are expendable. 1 for Porcello. 1 for a Bench bat. and 1 for the next available closer or a streamer. It's H2H, Yahoo Pro-$250... I heavily stream SPs.

So my questions are... Drop who for Porcello? and drop who for which bench bat? By your rankings I think you're going to say drop Quintana, Hutchison, add Porcello, Asche.

And of course please, what's your overall opinion? Grassy Ass!
