WHO TO KEEP?

Who to start, who to bench. Grab that WW guy? Low priced rookie or high priced stud?

WHO TO KEEP?

Postby tooms » Tue Jan 31, 2012 11:00 am

In my league I get to keep 7 major leaguers and 3 qualifying "prospects" or what we call minor leaguers. Everyone is signed to a three year contract, so anyone with an asterisk next to their name will be in their last year of their contract (meaning I will not be able to keep them again) and anyone without one was signed this year.

My viable options for major leaguers are: J. Mauer, M. Napoli, L. Berkman, R. Howard*, I. Kinsler, J. Bautista*, M. Holliday*, J. Hamilton, C. Kershaw*, I. Kennedy, D. Hudson, C. Kimbrel. I am currently set to keep Kinsler, Bautista, Holliday, Hamilton, Kershaw, Kimbrel and Berkman. But I can see an argument for pretty much anyone else besides Berkman. Thoughts on who I should keep?? Pitching and catchers are incredible deep this year in my draft, so that is why I am leaning against keeping a second pitcher or a catcher. Plus I plan on keeping three minor league pitchers as well.

As for my minor leaguers, my viable options are: Brett Jackson, Wilin Rosario, Stephen Lombardozzi, Michael Taylor, Brad Peacock, Henderson Alvarez, Jacob Turner, Tyler Skaggs, Tommy Milone and Joseph Wieland. I am set to keep Peacock, Alvarez and Turner. I'm fairly confident in those picks, but still would like people opinions on that as well.

Thanks again for all your help!

I agree with all you major league keepers but i like skaggs as far as an arm goes. You have some good choices to pick from though.

I like Skaggs a ton too, but the way this league works I tend to put more value on who will help me more this season as opposed to the true future unless you think they'll end up being a definite major league keeper the next year.

Another option it to try to trade for Hosmer. Would you rather keep Hosmer or Berkman?

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.
There's more than one player with the same last name? Then spell out who you're talking about.
Thanks!

Just traded Holliday* and Napoli for Wright*, so currently my keepers look like: (*=last contract year)

Bautista*
Kinsler
Wright*
Hamilton
Kershaw*
Kimbrel
Berkman

I still plan on trying to make a push for Hosmer over Berkman, but I don't think it will happen based on preliminary discussions, so I'll probably end up being stuck with Berkman especially since there are practically no 1B in my draft (everyone is being kept... everyone).

Also, was going to make a push for Dee Gordon as a minor league keeper over Jacob Turner. Thoughts? Then I'll have Dee Gordon, Brad Peacock and Henderson Alvarez as my minor leaguers.

Thanks again for your help.
