Customish h2h draft help!

Who to start, who to bench. Grab that WW guy? Low priced rookie or high priced stud?

Customish h2h draft help!

Postby Shivdaddy » Sat Mar 19, 2011 10:27 am

12 team, h2h weekly points league, points listed at bottom. I have 9th pick in draft this coming Tues.

Starting lineup - 1 at each position, 3 OF and a DH. For pitching you can start 4 SP and 3 RP, but everyone always goes 5/2 as you can see why with the points below.

Little background on league tendencies. SP goes earlier and earlier each year, last year 4SP were taken R1 and 5SP R2. Over the last couple years 13.5 SP have been picked by pick 40 and 24 SP have been picked through round 6 (p72). There are 7 bench spots with most people keeping around 5-6 SP on the bench.

Now some questions

1. With my league settings what changes (if any) should be made to overall draft strategy?
2. Do you agree with SP going so early with my league settings?
3. My first pick Ive narrowed down to Tulo, Longoria, Votto, and *caugh* Cano. I know your down on Cano being this high, but he was the #9 hitter in our league last year. Any help here?
4. Which positions this year scare you the most if you end up getting the 11-13th ranked player at their position?

Thanks for any responses I get!

I just found this site the other day, and am really enjoying it. Thanks again.

1./2. Quality starting pitching is favored in your league. I'd take a big number one, like F-Her.
3. Wouldn't change my hitting rankings for your league.
4. 3rd base

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.
There's more than one player with the same last name? Then spell out who you're talking about.
Thanks!

So would you advise taking a SP round 1 then? Where would the cutoff be for taking a SP round 1, Lee? And where would the cutoff be for round 2, Lester?

No, I'd take F-Her at the earliest round 2. You still need hitting.

2B Pedroia, Dustin
3B Ramirez, Aramis
SS Drew, Stephen
OF Kemp, Matt
OF Upton, Justin
OF Sizemore, Grady
(DH) Morales, Kendrys
Bench (1B) Davis, Ike
Bench (1B) Pena, Carlos

SP Lester, Jon
SP Jimenez, Ubaldo
SP Anderson, Brett

RP Chacin, Jhoulys
RP Stauffer, Tim
Bench (SP) Hudson, Daniel
Bench (RP) Bailey, Andrew

Should I try and trade ike or Pena for an OF (while grady is rehabbing) or pick one of these guys off waivers?

Thanks,
Iloveyou

Your hitting looks a little light on speed, which isn't terrible in H2H. Your pitching is incredible. Grab Torres for now.
