12 team league 6 keepers

Who to start, who to bench. Grab that WW guy? Low priced rookie or high priced stud?

12 team league 6 keepers

Postby Eternalfire » Tue Nov 23, 2010 11:37 am

Hey all Im going into the 3rd year of a keeper league with 12 teams
The league is weekly head2head points with the following scoring system

1B - Singles 1 point
2B - Doubles 2 points
3B - Triples 3 points
BB - Walks (Batters) 1 point
CS - Caught Stealing -1 point
HP - Hit by Pitch 1 point
HR - Home Runs 4 points
KO - Strikeouts (Batter) -1 point
R - Runs 1 point
RBI - Runs Batted In 1 point
SB - Stolen Bases 1.5 points

BBI - Walks Issued (Pitchers) -0.5 points
BS - Blown Saves -2 points
CG - Complete Games 3 points
ER - Earned Runs -1 point
HA - Hits Allowed -0.5 points
HRA - Home Runs Allowed -1 point
INN - Innings 1 point
K - Strikeouts (Pitcher) 1 point
L - Losses -5 points
QS - Quality Starts 3 points
S - Saves 3 points
SO - Shutouts 3 points
W - Wins 7 points

Bad pitching can really bury you and quality pitching is important, the pitchers overal line is more important then just wins and losses

I tanked alot of losses early so I really wanted to make long term moves

Before our trade deadline I moved Adam Dunn Jair Jurrjens & Alexi Ramirez plus my 2nd round pick for Clayton Kershaw

Then moved Miguel Cabrera & Jeff Niemann when he still had a sub 3.00 era for Jose Reyes, Carl Crawford & a 1st & 2x 6th round picks

Then my last deal had Clay Buchholz and a 1st moved for Josh Hamilton

So now my keepers are shaping up as

Josh Hamilton OF
Carl Crawford OF
Adrian Gonzalaz 1B
Jose Reyes SS
Clayton Kershaw SP

and my 6th keeper is a choice between - Josh Beckett, Jeremy Hellickson or Brian Roberts
honerable mention - Ichiro Suzuki, Jason Bay

Im really leaning towards Hellickson at this point but there wont be many 2B available

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts

How long can you keep these keepers? And what penalty do you pay each year? Are you keeping Hellickson as your 6th round pick? If so, that's not good.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.
There's more than one player with the same last name? Then spell out who you're talking about.
Thanks!

You can keep players indefinitely, so age is a big factor. Alot of people throw around draft picks to improve their keepers

Ichiro is the only one that even comes close to warranting a 6th round pick, but he's kinda bleh. Hellickson should be a great one in two years. It's sort of a flier keeper, but I guess I'd go that way.
