Re: Might be a long (or short) night for Morton
Couldn't watch the game, but talked to my friend who did. He said Morton was getting squeezed by the ump today and that 3 of the 4 balls to Nolasco should have been strikes. He ended up giving up 4 runs that inning, but could have gotten out of it with 0. He did give up a few more hard hit balls, bu...

Re: Kila just sac bunted Betemit over
I came close to cutting the cord on Kila a couple days ago...but I'm giving him another minute or two. Part of it is that there aren't any great options in my deep league's FA pool, but I remember he started slowly last year. I think as long as he keeps getting on base and starts hitting even a litt...

Re: Soto Batting #8 Tonight
As long as it's during the week that I play against him in H2H, I'm cool with it.
But objectively, that's batshit crazy. There aren't 4 other good hitters in that lineup, plus he's probably just going to get walked whenever there's an open base. And then someone will hit into an easy double play.

Re: add nolasco?
Historically, April and May are by far his worst months (5.42 and 6.30). Otherwise, he's a 3.50-60 pitcher with great WHIP and K numbers. If he looks good in April (and he does so far), there's not a whole lot to be afraid of.

Re: What am I missing about Charlie Morton?
That's not a bad comp. Just give 06-07 Wang 7-8 less W and 50-60 more K over a full season and you might have Morton. In leagues that don't double-count K, he's not the worst gamble for an 8th starter or whatever, but in league with an IP cap, he's probably not worth the innings.

Re: Is Matt Harrison worth a look?
Something about Harrison feels real. I mean, Tommy Hunter has way less impressive stuff and he's had 4.10-1.30 and 3.73-1.24 the last two years. I think Mike Maddux really knows what he's doing out there as a pitching coach. He'll certainly have run support...

Re: Yunel Escobar or Ian Desmond?
Desmond, but it's not as obvious as it was on draft day. The main draw is that Yunel gets you maybe 5 SB from your SS slot, while Desmond will contribute around 15. All other stats should be pretty close. If Desmond gets demoted from leadoff, then all bets are off.

Re: What am I missing about Charlie Morton?
Floyd I'd probably take (an established, reliable 4.00/1.30 with 150 K) and maybe Narveson if you need K help since his K-rate looks pretty high (7.5 potential) ...but the other guys are 6 of one, half dozen of the other. Right now, Charlie Morton is an absolute groundball MACHINE. I mean, I know it...

Re: Esmil Rogers Deserves More Love
He faced the Pirates. I think they're leading the league in K's so far, and they're averaging maybe 4 runs a game in any event. I do agree that Esmil looked good regardless of who he was facing, and his stuff certainly has upside. But he pitches half of his games at Coors, which is still a hitters p...

Re: Draft Day Steals
There's very little you can learn from the first 10 days of the season, other than guys who struggle so bad that they get demoted or moved down to a worse spot in the lineup, or guys that start out so hot that they force their way into more playing time or a better lineup slot. For pitchers, I'd loo...
