Re: 1st Rd draft pick

Thanks for the advice, I'll go w/ Miggy, I'm convinced. I'm reluctant to select a SP w/ my 2nd rder given that my 2nd tier of SPs begins there and I'll be able to get someone from that tier in the 3rd rd. How do you rank this group for my 2nd round pick: Sizemore, Reyes, Ellsbury, V. Martinez, Crawf...

Re: 1st Rd draft pick

What if the choice were Sabathia+Morneau versus Miggy + one of Beckett or Haren? I'm relatively confident Morneau, Beckett and Haren will all be available at the 20th pick.

1st Rd draft pick

12-team, H2H, points-based league, 3 keepers. 15 starters (utility hitter, 4 SPs, 2 relievers). Draft is this Saturday. I kept Cliff Lee, Gordon Beckham (eligible as a 2B) and Denard Span. I ended up w/ the 5th selection in the draft. The top four players available in the player pool should go in th...

Span in the 16th or H. Bell in the 14th?

I'm leaning towards Span...I like Bell, but I'm questioning whether he'll get save opportunities w/ San Diego. What are the chances he gets traded to Minnesota? That could be a boost.

Re: A draft theory question

In my H2H points-based league, Teixeira was the 4th most productive player in the league behind Pujols, Fielder and Braun in that order. He scored 8% more points than the next best 1B, M. Cabrera. I think it depends on your league rules. I'm putting together a decision modeling program in a spreadsh...

Lineup position: Andrus

Points based, H2H league. I've found over the years that lineup position has correlated well with production. Grey, I know you're bullish on Andrus. Where will he hit in the Rangers lineup? Is it a battle between Borbon and Andrus for leadoff? If so, who do you think wins that battle? If Andrus bats...

Re: Roto vs. Points League (H2H)

I think it depends a lot on whether hitters are penalized for strikeouts and/or rewarded for walks according to your points system, such as the league I'm in. For instance, Ryan Howard and Matt Kemp aren't worth as much as Pedroia in my league. A player like B.J. Upton isn't even in the top 80 playe...

Re: Need Some Keeper Advice.

I can choose 5 of the following players (round-based): Prince Fielder 2nd Round Carl Crawford 3rd Round Brian Roberts 4th Round Jonathan Papelbon 5th Round Victor Martinez 6th Round Ryan Zimmerman 7th Round Michael Young 8th Round Johnny Damon 11th Round Adam Wainright 12th Round Leo Nunez 12th Rou...

Re: Keeper Advice

Wainwright and even Cano are interesting at those prices. If you think other owners will keep the top-shelf shortstops, Bartlett may be appealing too.

Re: Denard Span or Clay Buchholz?

Span -- Spring doesn't matter. 2. Quentin's okay there. He can probably be redrafted back for that and you're just making the other guy's team better. So I wouldn't do it. First off, thanks for the response. I really enjoy reading your posts for their insight as well as laughs, I'm a regular visito...
