I’ve always been fond of autumn. Mother Nature is packing it in, so there’s no more mowing the lawn or weeding the garden. The chill in the air means I can hide my bald spot with a cap and mask my belly with an extra shirt, no questions asked. And how great is Halloween? Not only is it a legit reason to strap on my complete set of Boba Fett armor, but my neighbors reward me with a week’s worth of “candy dinner” just for showing it off! So when I’m gearing up for a good FaP (that’s fantasy postseason), I like to keep things as stress free as possible.

I should mention that I’m not referring to the postseason of fantasy baseball, but rather fantasy baseball during the postseason. Still confused? Okay… I’m not talking about fantasy head-to-head playoffs. The one that takes place during the real life regular season. The one where half your team is getting days off for oblique (noun) injuries, another half is getting off days for oblique (adjective) injuries, and the other half is on waivers because you’re desperately streaming SUSAN (Some Unreliable Starter Available Now).

I’m talking about playing fantasy baseball during real baseball’s postseason. The one where they play for the World Series title, some jewelry, and a trophy that resides on a shelf, not a webpage. The one where everybody is rooting for their team or against the Yankees. The one where unforgettable studs like Mike Boddicker, Burt Hooton, Jeff Suppan, and Pat Borders win MVP awards. Which brings me to my point: there’s no need to stress over who you draft, ‘cause anybody or nobody can step up in the playoffs.

Can’t take the agita that comes with Josh Hamilton? Let someone else draft him. Think Kris Medlen’s a little cream puff Mac Daddy wannabe? Give him the finger… the middle. Hate Stephen Strasburg’s facial hair? He won’t even be pitching! Draft players you like… players you want to see do well. Who cares if they’re not the best pick available? The FaP is always more pleasurable with a bunch of guys you enjoy watching.  Hope your FaP has a happy ending!
